For Cara and Nathanial’s Lancaster, PA engagement session, we spent the day bopping. I know, the term was new to me too, but it’s so fitting! Before tying the knot in October at The Booking House, this couple wanted their engagement photos to be a true reflection of how they spend their time together. For them, that looks like bopping (i.e. a full day of doing their favorite things which resulted in so many cool photoshoot locations.) Between their incredibly cool hobbies and downtown Lancaster being a whole vibe, I was in for a treat with this one!
For Cara and Nathanial, music is a huge part of their relationship. Browsing the stacks at the local record store is one of their favorite ways to spend an afternoon together. From the very beginning of this shoot, I got the feeling that these two are down for anything as long as they’re doing it together. Their chemistry is authentic and gave this part of the session a very Indie film love story feel. We even incorporated two of their favorite albums (Mac Miller’s Swimming and Taylor Swift’s 1989) for added personal touches. We were off to a great start!
The next stop on our route was Decades + Rooftop. Not only is this location perfect for engagement photos with an edge, it’s where it all started for Cara and Nathanial. They met by chance just as the world opened up again following the covid shutdown, and Decades was where they held their first date. They knew they had something special from the start when they continued their date for several hours at the parking garage next to Nathanial’s apartment. When you know, you know! The theme of this particular date was drinks & ski ball (with some bowling and arcade games thrown into the mix) and a good time was had by all.
Cara and Nathanial will be the first to tell you that they live for an outfit moment. They pulled out all the stops with their ‘fits as we went from fun and casual to a bit more sultry at Conway Social Club. These two are the epitome of class, and there was no better place to showcase that than their favorite date night bar in Lancaster. If you’re not familiar with the area, you’re probably not aware of the rich downtown atmosphere. The variety in restaurants and culture is unmatched, and Cara and Nathanial proved that they are in the know on their bopping day.
The couple who plays together stays together, and I think it’s pretty obvious from the photos that Cara and Nathanial have a blast! We wrapped up the day in Lancaster at Buchmiller Park with a romantic picnic complete with champagne before a wardrobe change for pickleball. Fun fact about this couple, the outfits (again, they love to dress) they wore for pickleball are the same ones they wore in a tournament. They didn’t place, but they did win best dressed and I can guarantee after spending the day with them, their time together was not wasted! It was the perfect ending to the day.
