Engagement sessions should be two things: a reflection of the couple and brimming with romance. This Phoenixville engagement session accomplished both! We started with a cozy in-home session and then hit the town for date night photos. Tori and James originally reached out to me to shoot their destination wedding at Lake Tahoe. Regrettably, the dates didn’t pan out, but we meshed so well that they wanted to move forward with engagement photos. I’m so glad they did!
We kicked off the evening with an in-home engagement session at Tori & James’ apartment. Their home, like the two of them, was warm, inviting, and the perfect setting to begin the shoot. Tori and James cozied up on the living room sofa with champagne (and their adorable rescue pup, Tucker). Tucker, ever the perfect gentleman, was a great sport for the photos and clearly loved beyond measure. Similarly, Tori & James’ mutual adoration was palpable with every kiss and shared look I captured. As James twirled Tori around in the afternoon light, I knew their gallery would be one for the books!
Next, we shifted from a casual afternoon in to a glam evening in downtown Phoenixville for the second part of their engagement session. From the beginning, Tori knew she wanted a creative approach to their photos. We decided on a stroll through the town to include the colorful murals for several shots for a bespoke touch. As a Phoenixville native, it was so fun to see the town and all of its unique offerings through Tori & James’ lenses.
The next stop on our Phoenixville tour was The Colonial Theatre, a community staple that’s been around for decades. When I envision the hundreds of titles displayed on the marquee over the years, I’m certain none are as noteworthy as Tori & James’ wedding date! The theatre photos were so much fun and had the feel of a rom-com first date. The laughter, popcorn, and a leading lady-esque dip before the red curtains had all the makings for the fresh approach Tori envisioned.
After a full afternoon exploring Phoenixville, The Fenix Bar made for the perfect nightcap to wrap up our evening together. I went into full-on third-wheel mode while I snapped candids of the two of them getting cozy in a corner booth. The couple enjoyed a Manhattan and an espresso martini while they chatted about their day together. Casual conversation between two people in love sets the scene for incredibly authentic shots. This is one of the many reasons I love date night engagement sessions. Have you ever been near a couple who radiate affection for one another? Tori & James epitomize those couples and it shows in their gallery!
