Cooper and Steve’s wedding was nothing short of a celestial celebration in the heart of Springfield, Virginia. The couple chose to tie the knot in Cooper’s childhood home, transforming it into a magical backyard garden wedding. With the impressive coordination of Cooper’s mothers, Wendy and Rachael, the vibes were set – bold florals, vibrant colors, and daring fashion, all with a touch of astrology. I’m so excited to share this small at home wedding with you! Ready to dive in!?
We first have to talk about the elevated fashion of this day! The wedding party was encouraged to showcase their unique styles, and it was just so beautiful and fun to see everyones individuality on full display!
The couple’s love for astrology shone through, with Steve proudly wearing a Virgo pin in honor of Cooper’s zodiac sign. There was also a wedding temporary tattoo station, adorned with cat tattoos and astrology symbols, adding an extra layer of whimsy and charm to the celebration and the guests loved it!
It was so fun seeing all the little details come together! Steve surprised Cooper with a stunning Hawaiian lei po’o, which was a nod to Cooper’s birthplace…how freaking sweet is that!? The love between them was seriously like the movies. I truly do not believe I have ever seen anyone more in love then these two beautiful humans!
A really fun part of the day is what we called their titanic moment. Cooper descended down a set of stairs so Steve could see Cooper before anyone else, and then in reverse so Cooper could see Steve for the first time too! They then opted for a unique approach and chose to walk down the aisle together, a synchronized and meaningful alternative to the traditional meet-at-the-altar moment.
During the at home wedding ceremony, as Cooper’s mothers walked down the aisle, their dog followed suit. It felt like he was also giving his blessing to the union and opening his home to all of the guests along side them. It was a moment that Cooper and Steve didn’t even realize happened, but as their wedding photographer I was able to capture the heartwarming moment for them to cherish forever.
Cooper’s fashion game was on point! During the reception, Cooper rocked a stunning vintage Versace wedding dress and vintage Gucci shoes that not only exuded timeless elegance but were also sourced sustainably from The Real Real. Each ensemble piece spoke volumes about Cooper’s distinctive style, adding a touch of glamour and eco-conscious sophistication to the entire celebration. Cooper’s fashion choices, adorned in the iconic brands’ vintage treasures, elevated the visual narrative of the wedding, making every moment a showcase of refined taste and sustainable chic.
When it came to capturing the portraits, we decided to break away from tradition and I’m so glad we did! Cooper and Steve belonged to a more elevated vibe anyway, so they embraced cake and champagne at the end of the night! The laundry room’s blue and white tiles not only set the stage for this unconventional choice but also provided a unique canvas in creating iconic moments that perfectly reflected their love.
Cooper and Steve’s backyard wedding felt like more than a celebration; it was an iconic burst of colors and love. A testament to the belief that weddings can be as unique as the couple themselves. It was, without a doubt, a day that will be remembered as truly legendary!
If you’re dreaming of a wedding that breaks the mold and captures your unique love story, then hey, I’m Jennifer! Reach out and let’s make your day as iconic as you are!
