Kay & Steve – La Colombe Coffee, Philadelphia Wedding
Can we all just take a moment and talk about Kay & Steve’s Wedding at La Colombe Coffee in Fishtown, Philadelphia?! Living down the street from this amazing venue, Kay & Steve knew that this would be the perfect location for their wedding! The venue served as the ideal backdrop for such a beautiful and unconventional celebration. The industrial chic setting and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee set the ambiance. All gorgeously decorated by Salt Florist.
Kay & Steve’s main request for wedding photography coverage was that they could be present throughout the night. To accommodate this we planned to get their bridal portraits and family photos all completed before guests arrived. We planned the timing to line up with sunset. Perfectly wrapping up all of their photos just in time for their guests to arrive!
Upon arrival, guests were welcomed with Kay & Steve’s signature cocktail of the night, a delicious French 75. Setting the tone for a night of fun, laughter, and cherished moments. It was a celebration where guests could savor each sip and savor every moment.
In true non-traditional fashion, the couple opted for a standing-room-only ceremony. Truly surrounded by their closest loved ones. They exchanged vows that were as unique as their journey together. Kay and her father walked down the aisle to Metallica and they were united by a lifelong best friend. The intimacy of the moment was palpable. All while a talented band carried music from the ceremony into cocktail hour. Which realistically was an all in one as cocktail hour started before the ceremony. Such a fun twist for guests!
Following the ceremony, guests were treated to an array of small dishes that delighted the palate. The culinary journey was punctuated by fun outtakes at the photobooth. Capturing the laughter and camaraderie of the day.
To ignite the dance floor, the couple had a fun surprise up their sleeve that even I was not aware of as their photographer. A sword-handling belly dancer!! Venus, the talent of the night quickly took the stage! Leaving everyone in absolutely awe. I have never seen this used to get a dance floor going at a wedding and honestly, it was the best trick I have seen yet! . As the night wore on, and the crowd danced about with Venus. As Venus left the stage, she swiftly handed over the show to their DJ who seamlessly took over. Carrying the crowd on a musical journey that had everyone on their feet.
The Fireball shots flowed freely, igniting the dance floor with energy and laughter. The night quickly transformed into an epic celebration, leaving everyone with unforgettable memories. From kongo lines to an epic father/daughter danced to Criminal, by Britney Spears.
It was L e g e n d a r y.
This celebration was one for the record books. Demonstrating that you can truly have your day exactly how you and your partner want it! That weddings can be as unconventional and joyful as you want them to be. This wedding was a freaking party. Representing their vibrant personalities. One of the most fun and epic weddings I have ever captured.
